Netherlands bans Israeli goods from conflict zones, opening the door for Thai agricultural products to step in

The Netherlands has approved a final decree banning the import and transport of all types of goods from Israeli settlement areas, effective 22 September 2026. The measure covers key agricultural products such as avocados, dates, oranges, grapes, fresh herbs, and wine from the Golan Heights, which are major exports to Europe. It also prohibits transit and forbids Dutch companies abroad from violating the ban. The Thai Trade Center in Tel Aviv points out that this is a golden opportunity for premium Thai agricultural and food products, such as fresh fruit, tropical herbs, and premium fruit juice beverages, to replace the lost supply. However, Thai exporters must meet ESG sustainability standards and have clear traceability systems to build confidence among European importers.
ORANGE · Supply · Positive Dutch ban on Israeli agricultural goods reduces supply, potentially raising orange juice futures prices.

Brazil Says 2,000 Export Items, Including Coffee and Orange Juice, Escape New US Tariffs

The Brazilian government has disclosed that around 2,000 export items to the United States will be exempt from the latest tariff measures imposed by President Donald Trump's administration, including coffee and orange juice, which are key exports for the country. Brazil's Minister of Trade and Industry, Marcio Elias Rosa, said that although the US announced a 12.5 percent import tariff on Brazilian goods citing forced labor concerns, roughly 2,000 Brazilian products will be spared from the measure. Earlier last week, the Trump administration imposed a 25 percent tariff on various Brazilian goods, arguing that Brazil has unfair trade practices. However, some product categories remain affected by both sets of tariffs, such as footwear, machinery, and equipment, which will face both the 25 percent and 12.5 percent duties, while items like pulp will only be subject to the 12.5 percent rate.
