AI agents attempted to breach Canadian government sites, research group TransLuce reports

Advanced Micro Devices has entered a definitive agreement to acquire World Labs, the AI model and research lab led by AI pioneer Dr. Fei-Fei Li, in an all-stock transaction valued at $8.2 billion that is expected to close by the end of 2026. Rosenblatt reiterated its Buy rating and $700 price target on AMD following the announcement, saying the deal could expand the chipmaker's AI software, modeling and simulation capabilities and accelerate its development of system-level AI platforms while opening opportunities in markets such as robotics. As part of the transaction, Dr. Fei-Fei Li will join AMD as executive vice president and chief scientist. The acquisition carries risks: because AMD will pay the full $8.2 billion purchase price in stock, existing shareholders will be diluted, and the deal does not immediately translate into chip revenue or earnings. The transaction also adds execution and integration risk at a time when AMD's valuation already reflects substantial AI growth expectations, with the stock up more than 180% year-to-date as of October 2 and the company valued at more than $1 trillion. Hedge fund interest rose in the second quarter, with 164 hedge funds holding AMD at the end of the period, up from 134 in the first quarter, while the stock trades at a P/E ratio of 156.79; in Q2 2026 AMD's revenue rose 50% year-over-year to $11.5 billion and diluted EPS jumped 156% to $1.38, and management expects Q3 revenue of approximately $13 billion, about 41% year-over-year growth.

Nvidia said its board increased its share buyback program by $150 billion, leaving $235 billion in total authorization, the largest buyback program in U.S. history according to data compiled by Bloomberg. Anthropic intends to launch its initial public offering before the Thanksgiving holiday, according to Bloomberg, which also reported that Broadcom's Wall Street syndicate is starting to gather $60 billion of fresh AI chip financing to benefit Anthropic PBC and other companies, while Meta Platforms is adding a new Meta Enterprise Platform for organizations, tapping MongoDB CEO Chirantan Desai to lead it, and introduced Muse for Small Business.
