Eagle Materials Reports Record Q1 Revenue of $651 Million

Eagle Materials Inc reported record first quarter revenue of $651 million, up 3% year-over-year, while earnings per share declined 13% to $3.29. The company cited strong demand in cement and aggregates driven by infrastructure spending and data center construction, but higher operating and freight costs, along with an unexpected equipment failure at the Mountain Cement facility that had a $6 million earnings impact, weighed on results. Operating cash flow rose 13% to $154 million, and the company continues to invest in modernization projects such as the Laramie cement plant and Duke wallboard plant. Wallboard sales volume and prices declined, leading to a 16% drop in operating earnings for the light materials sector, while net cement sales prices were down 2% due to elevated freight costs. Management highlighted a balanced capital allocation strategy including share buybacks and growth projects, and noted that U.S. housing supply shortages continue to support wallboard demand despite subdued housing starts.

Zacks Names Three Concrete and Aggregates Stocks Poised to Gain From Infrastructure Boom

Zacks Investment Research identifies Vulcan Materials, Eagle Materials, and Suncrete as three concrete and aggregates stocks set to benefit from steady infrastructure spending in 2026.
