Allison Transmission Holdings, Inc. designs, manufactures, and sells fully automatic transmissions for medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles, medium- and heavy-tactical U.S. defense vehicles, and electrified propulsion systems worldwide. Its transmissions serve applications including distribution, refuse, construction, fire, and emergency on-highway trucks; school and transit buses; motor homes; off-highway vehicles and equipment for energy, mining, and construction; and wheeled and tracked defense vehicles. The company offers products under the Allison Transmission brand and remanufactured transmissions under the ReTran brand, and also sells replacement parts, support equipment, aluminum die cast components, defense kits, engineering services, and extended transmission coverage services. Formerly known as Clutch Holdings, Inc., the company was founded in 1915 and is headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana.
