Agenus Reports 48% Three-Year Survival for BOT+BAL in Recurrent Ovarian Cancer

Agenus Inc. announced three-year follow-up results from the ovarian cancer cohort of its 400+ patient Phase 1b C-800-01 trial, showing an estimated 48% three-year overall survival for botensilimab plus balstilimab in recurrent ovarian cancer. The estimate was unchanged from two years, with median overall survival of 14.8 months, a 23% objective response rate among 35 evaluable patients, and a median duration of response of 9.7 months. At last follow-up, 25% of the 44 patients who received at least one dose, 11 in total, were alive and off all therapy. The heavily pretreated population had received a median of four prior lines of therapy, 77% had received bevacizumab and 57% a PARP inhibitor, and nearly three-quarters had platinum-resistant or refractory disease; estimated three-year survival was 47% in that subgroup and 61% in the 17 patients whose disease had progressed on a PARP inhibitor. The data were presented by Rebecca L. Porter of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute at the 2026 International Gynecologic Cancer Society Annual Global Meeting in Montréal, and Agenus said no new safety signals or treatment-related deaths were reported.

Agenus Fair Value Rises to US$26.33 on Trial Updates and Fresh Financing

Agenus now carries an updated implied fair value of about US$26.33 per share, up from US$19.50, a roughly 35% increase tied to trial updates and fresh financing. The higher target reflects recent Street commentary on the botensilimab plus balstilimab program in microsatellite stable colorectal cancer and on new capital that changes how investors weigh financing risk. Chardan, H.C. Wainwright and B. Riley have all assigned Buy ratings on the stock in 2026, with price target revisions to US$30, US$25 and US$14. H.C. Wainwright factors in an assumed issuance of 23 million shares tied to an US$85 million upfront financing payment, highlighting ongoing dilution and funding risk. The fair value update also reflects revenue growth assumptions of a decline of about 1.37%, a net profit margin easing from about 17.91% to about 17.63%, a future P/E shifting from about 58.6x to about 80.6x, and a discount rate moving from about 7.60% to about 7.69%.

Agenus stock doubles as biotech narrows Phase 3 bet

Agenus is redirecting its Phase 3 colon-cancer strategy, discontinuing financial support for its BATTMAN study and making the planned ROBBIN trial its central development priority. The shift is backed by a private placement expected to provide about $85 million upfront, with potential gross proceeds of $340 million if accompanying warrants are fully exercised. The company plans to direct the financing toward ROBBIN, a randomized global Phase 3 study of botensilimab plus balstilimab in patients with high-risk Stage II and Stage III microsatellite-stable colon cancer, with the first patient expected to be dosed in the first quarter of 2027. Agenus shares were recently trading at $6.46, up 93.1% from the July 10 close, after reaching $8.70 earlier in the session. The upfront portion of the transaction is expected to support operations into the third quarter of 2027, while full warrant exercise could extend the cash runway through the end of 2031.

Agenus shares surge as company secures up to $340M to advance colon cancer trial

Agenus shares jumped about 100% on Monday after the biotechnology company announced an oversubscribed private placement of up to $340 million to support development of its botensilimab and balstilimab immunotherapy combination in microsatellite-stable colon cancer. The financing includes approximately $85 million in upfront gross proceeds, with an additional potential $255 million available through the full exercise of purchase warrants. The transaction was led by Commodore Capital, with participation from RA Capital Management, TCGX, Invus, and Ligand Pharmaceuticals. Proceeds will be used to advance ROBBIN, a planned registrational Phase 3 trial evaluating neoadjuvant BOT+BAL in previously untreated high-risk Stage II and Stage III MSS colon cancer, with the company expecting the financing, assuming full warrant exercise, to provide funding through the end of 2031. The trial is designed to enroll 850 patients globally and will compare neoadjuvant BOT+BAL followed by standard of care against standard of care alone, with event-free survival as the primary endpoint.
