Alliant Energy Corporation is a utility holding company that provides regulated electric and natural gas services in the United States through its IPL and WPL segments. The IPL segment generates and distributes electricity and distributes and transports natural gas to retail customers in Iowa, sells electricity to wholesale customers in Minnesota, Illinois, and Iowa, and generates and distributes steam for two customers in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The WPL segment generates and distributes electricity and distributes and transports natural gas to retail customers in Wisconsin, and sells electricity to wholesale customers in Wisconsin. The company also owns and operates rail freight, barge, truck freight, freight brokerage, wind turbine blade recycling, and warehouse operations, and holds interests in a natural gas-fired generating unit in Wisconsin and a wind farm in Oklahoma. It was formerly known as Interstate Energy Corp. and changed its name to Alliant Energy Corporation in May 1999, and is headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin.
