Daqo New Energy's fair value estimate has been trimmed from about US$23.95 to about US$19.65, an adjustment of roughly 18%, as analysts remain sharply divided on the stock. JPMorgan maintains an Overweight rating with a revised US$22 price target, still above the updated fair value estimate, while Goldman Sachs shifted to a Sell rating with a reduced US$10 target, citing a Q2 non GAAP net loss driven by lower recognized average selling prices and higher SG&A expenses. The company issued new production guidance for the third quarter of 2026 targeting polysilicon output of about 40,000 MT to 45,000 MT, and for the full year 2026 guided to polysilicon production of about 160,000 MT to 180,000 MT, including the impact of annual facility maintenance. Daqo New Energy was also removed from the FTSE All World Index in US$ terms, and Reuters reported that the U.S. government is preparing a price floor and tariffs on polysilicon to support domestic factories, with Daqo New Energy cited among the companies expected to be affected. In the updated model, revenue growth was trimmed from about 32.87% to about 30.82%, net profit margin moved from about 1.77% to about 6.50%, the future P/E was cut from about 97.65x to about 23.46x, and the discount rate edged higher from about 12.27% to about 12.37%.

Micron CEO flags self-driving cars and humanoid robots as next memory demand driver

Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra said on the company's Q4 earnings call that physical AI, starting with self-driving cars and expanding to humanoid robots, could become a significant driver of memory and storage demand by the end of this decade. In its Q4 report on Wednesday, Micron reported earnings per share of $33.42, up 1,002% from $3.03 in the same quarter last year, while revenue climbed 379% to $54.23 billion from $11.31 billion in Q4 2025. Mehrotra said memory content in level 4 and higher autonomous vehicles typically exceeds 200 gigabytes, with storage reaching multiple terabytes, each more than an order of magnitude greater than in today's level two plus and level three semi-autonomous vehicles. He added that humanoid robots will have similar memory and storage requirements, which could serve as an additional revenue opportunity. Companies working on humanoid robots include Tesla, Figure, Hyundai's Boston Dynamics, Unitree Robotics, and Agility Robotics, though Reuters reported only 7,000 humanoid robots were sold globally in 2025 for industrial and professional services.

CEO Sanjay Mehrotra said fiscal 2027 will be even stronger, and the company's Q1 2027 guidance did not disappoint. Micron shares have surged over 1,300% in the past five years yet trade at a price-to-earnings ratio of 23.61x and a market cap of just $1 trillion, even as the company is expected to generate more quarterly profit next quarter than NVIDIA did in the first quarter of 2026, when NVIDIA earned $40 billion in quarterly profit at a $4.8 trillion market cap. Management said Micron holds 26 multi-year take-or-pay agreements covering more than 35% of expected revenue through 2030, with customer financial commitments rising to $32 billion from $22 billion last quarter, mostly in cash deposits. Micron also confirmed the DRAM supply and demand imbalance remains, saying it has no line of sight to when supply and demand will return to balance, and expects humanoid robot production and physical AI to add a significant layer of memory and storage demand by the end of this decade.

Micron CFO Says No Line of Sight for End of Memory Shortage

Micron CFO Mark Murphy said there is no line of sight on when memory supply will be sufficient to meet demand, as the company reported blowout fiscal Q4 results driven by the AI buildout. Earnings per share came in at $33.42, up 1,002% from $3.03 in the same quarter last year, while revenue climbed 379% to $54.23 billion from $11.31 billion. Micron Posts Record Earnings as Taiwan Union Moves Toward Strike Vote

Micron Technology reported record quarterly results after the close on Wednesday, but a labor dispute at its Taiwan operations is now threatening production at one of its key manufacturing bases. Fourth-quarter revenue came in at $54.23 billion, ahead of the $50.45 billion consensus and nearly five times the $11.32 billion reported a year earlier, while adjusted earnings of $33.42 a share beat estimates of $31.16. For the full fiscal year, revenue reached $133.19 billion against $37.38 billion the prior year, with operating margin at 76% on a non-GAAP basis, and Micron guided first-quarter revenue to $60 billion to $63 billion, well above the $56.77 billion consensus, with earnings of $37.15 to $39.15 a share. Chairman and CEO Sanjay Mehrotra credited AI demand and the company's Strategic Customer Agreements for the record fiscal 2026 results. According to reports, Micron said its roughly 15,000 Taiwan employees would receive the company's largest-ever compensation package for fiscal 2026, worth the equivalent of 35 to 68 months of base salary for production staff, but the Taoyuan union is pushing for a permanent mechanism allocating 15% of operating profit to employee bonuses rather than another one-off payout. Union chairman Lin Che-jui has said the aim is a long-term, transparent system, negotiations broke down on Sept. 21, and the union has announced plans for a strike vote, while Micron has said it remains willing to continue talks and separate mediation with the Taichung union is scheduled for Oct. 22. Taiwan is one of Micron's most important manufacturing bases for DRAM and the high-bandwidth memory used in AI servers, making any disruption a risk for investors at a time when supply is already tight, and a poll on workplace platform Blind found 75% of respondents support the Micron strikers receiving the additional 15%.
MU · Capital · Positive Micron reported record quarterly results with revenue of $54.23B beating consensus and guided Q1 revenue well above estimates.
MU · Supply · Negative A labor dispute at Micron's Taiwan operations is threatening production at a key DRAM and HBM manufacturing base amid already tight supply.

Micron Says 75% of FY2027 Shipments Committed, Sees Demand Visibility Into 2028

Micron Technology said on its Q4 FY2026 earnings call that more than 75% of its shipments are already committed for fiscal 2027, giving the company demand visibility extending out to 2028. President and COO Manish Bhatia said the commitments allow Micron to shift allocation conversations with customers out to 2028, citing server unit growth into 2027 and fast-growing agentic AI demand alongside structural supply constraints. Chief Financial Officer Mark Murphy said the company expects margin expansion relative to the first quarter driven by continued price increases at a more moderate pace and a better product mix, partly offset by start-up costs, and guided to single-digit sequential bit growth and double-digit cost increases for both DRAM and NAND in the first quarter. Murphy also raised the fiscal 2027 research and development increase to over $1 billion, up from the more than $1 billion figure given last quarter. On the product side, President and Chief Technology and Products Officer Scott DeBoer said Micron has been working with NVIDIA for over a year on a co-designed HBM4E product, and Bhatia said the company's supply agreements cover both DRAM and NAND, with 35% of sales under SCAs by 2030. Bhatia added that China exposure is reducing and is expected to be in the single-digit range in fiscal 2027, while DeBoer said Micron is at least two nodes ahead and that its 1-gamma DRAM technology is already the majority of its bits.
