For a hundred years, communication satellites were just a handful of machines hovering far overhead, sending slow and expensive signals. But in just the last few years, the sky has been packed with thousands of satellites flying low and fast, beaming high-speed broadband down to every square inch of Earth — and the newest frontier is "direct-to-device": satellites that can talk straight to your ordinary phone, possibly erasing the word "no signal" from the world. This is the single biggest revenue engine of the space economy.

AST SpaceMobile Hit by Securities Class Actions Over Funding Disclosures
Law firms Schall, Brown & Schwartz LLP and Rosen Law Firm have announced securities class action lawsuits against AST SpaceMobile, alleging misleading statements about its capital resources, competitive position and user adoption between March 4, 2025 and July 15, 2026. The cases focus on whether AST SpaceMobile misrepresented its balance of cash, debt and share issuance while scaling its satellite network, raising fresh questions about how robust its funding model really was during this critical buildout phase. The allegations land against the backdrop of the August 2026 launch of BlueBird satellites 11 to 13, which pushed the constellation further toward continuous coverage in initial markets. Before these lawsuits, the most pessimistic analysts already assumed revenue might reach about US$2.1 billion by 2029 while warning that heavy dilution and a possible 7 percent annual share count increase could still leave AST SpaceMobile trading at over 100 times earnings. AST SpaceMobile's narrative projects $2.2 billion revenue and $190.9 million earnings by 2029, requiring 165.5% yearly revenue growth and an $809.7 million earnings increase from -$618.8 million today.

AT&T CEO Stankey Says SpaceX's Starlink Cellular Plan Won't Work, Touts Fiber
AT&T CEO John Stankey said Elon Musk-led Space Exploration Technologies Corp.'s plan to roll out a cellular network will not work, arguing fiber-based connectivity beats satellites. In an interview with Axios on Tuesday, Stankey said fiber is three times faster than satellite networks and that satellite, even at its best over the next 10 years, still will not beat fiber. Asked about SpaceX's plan to install cellular base stations alongside Starlink dishes, Stankey said it would cost as much as building a macro network to handle those capabilities, and that companies cannot radiate cellular signals from someone's house without permission. He cited a whole bunch of reasons why SpaceX's plan would not work. Earlier this month, SpaceX won Federal Communications Commission approval to provide international telecommunications services, boosting its plans for direct-to-cell 5G connectivity via the Starlink constellation, and the FCC is set to vote on September 30 on unlocking an additional 1,000 MHz of spectrum for satellite broadband.

Kiatnakin Phatra says Starlink has yet to hit ASEAN mobile operators, picks ADVANC as top dividend stock
Kiatnakin Phatra Securities said in an analysis dated October 1, 2026, that over the next three to four years low-earth-orbit satellite services, especially Starlink, are unlikely to significantly affect the market share of ground-based telecommunications operators in ASEAN, due to network capacity constraints and prices that remain higher than terrestrial services. Starlink's monthly service fee in Malaysia is about 58% higher than comparable-speed ground broadband, and nearly four times higher in Vietnam. As for direct-to-device, or D2D, satellite-to-handset connectivity, Kiatnakin Phatra sees it serving more as a supplementary service than a replacement, with the potential to support average revenue per user, or ARPU, but over the longer term it will be necessary to watch competition from Starlink more closely, as network capacity will increase significantly by 2030 with the deployment of the Starship rocket and V3 satellites. Since SpaceX's initial public offering in mid-June 2026, about half of ASEAN telecom stocks under Bank of America's coverage have underperformed the market, which Kiatnakin Phatra attributes to factors other than concerns about LEO competition. Its top pick in the ASEAN communications sector is Advanced Info Service, or ADVANC, on the back of an appropriate dividend yield, alongside Globe Telecom, or GLO, Indosat-Hutchison, or ISAT, SingTel, and PT Telkom, or TLKM. Starlink currently operates in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam, but has not yet launched in Thailand because of a rule limiting foreign shareholding in entities granted rights to use ground stations to no more than 49%. OneWeb has already offered fixed broadband services in Thailand since 2025, and Amazon LEO plans to launch services in Indonesia and Thailand in the future.
Musk Mocks Delta Wi-Fi After Airline Picks Amazon Leo Over Starlink
Elon Musk mocked Delta Air Lines' in-flight internet on Tuesday, joking that the carrier's connectivity could serve as an artificial-intelligence containment system, after warning Delta could lose customers for choosing Amazon's Leo over Starlink. "Best way to sandbox an AI is to put it on a Delta flight – it will have no chance of accessing the Internet!" the SpaceX CEO wrote on X. The jab followed his public prediction that Delta CEO Ed Bastian would "lose his job" over reported remarks suggesting the airline rejected Starlink partly because it did not want to work with Musk, comments Delta has not confirmed. Delta chose Amazon Leo instead and will begin installing the service on 500 aircraft in 2028, integrating it with Delta Sync; Bastian called it "the fastest and most cost-effective technology available." Delta says its existing free Delta Sync Wi-Fi, presented by T-Mobile, reaches more than 1,200 aircraft and has logged more than 160 million customer sessions since launch, while American Airlines plans to install Starlink on more than 500 narrowbody aircraft beginning in 2027.

MoffettNathanson Warns Starlink V3 Satellites Threaten Comcast and Charter Broadband
MoffettNathanson analyst Craig Moffett said Tuesday that SpaceX's Starlink is becoming a more credible competitor to terrestrial broadband providers, particularly in rural and lower-density markets, as the service begins deploying higher-capacity V3 satellites. Moffett told CNBC that Starlink poses a much greater competitive challenge to Comcast Corp. and Charter Communications Inc. than to traditional wireless carriers such as AT&T Inc. and Verizon Communications Inc., saying the terrestrial broadband business where they deliver ISP service is a very credible product that already is having a significant impact. SpaceX's first Starship orbital flight deployed 26 V3 Starlink satellites, which Moffett said carry substantially more capacity and should improve the service, though he expects it will be after 2030 before most of the Starlink constellation consists of V3 satellites. Even with V3 satellites, he does not expect Starlink to match the speeds offered by terrestrial fiber or cable broadband, leaving pricing and customer segmentation as major competitive factors, with Starlink potentially competing more effectively for value-oriented customers. Moffett compared the challenge with the pressure Comcast and Charter already face from fixed wireless access, noting the cable operators have responded by bundling broadband with wireless services, a strategy he said has proven relatively successful.

KKPS maintains BUY on KCE with 104 baht target, expects 95% profit growth in 2026
Kiatnakin Phatra Securities, or KKPS, published an analysis on 29 September 2026 maintaining a BUY rating on KCE Electronics, or KCE, with a target price of 104 baht versus a reference share price of 67.75 baht. The target price is based on a price-to-earnings ratio, or P/E, of 38.1 times, about 0.75 standard deviations above the historical average. KKPS expects KCE's normalized earnings per share to grow about 95% in 2026 and 110% in 2027, while its 2027 profit estimate is roughly 69% above the market consensus. For net profit attributable to the company after adjusting for special items, it expects about 1.529 billion baht in 2026, up from 883 million baht in 2025, before rising to 3.212 billion baht in 2027 and 4.174 billion baht in 2028. The research team views KCE as entering an upcycle in the printed circuit board, or PCB, industry after recovering more slowly than overseas operators due to weak automotive demand. The communications business, especially low Earth orbit, or LEO, satellites, will be a key growth opportunity, with revenue from the communications business expected to rise to about 16% of PCB revenue in 2027 and 30% in 2028. The optical communication business could be the next driver, given the China+1 trend and the expansion of the optical industry ecosystem in Thailand. In the humanoid robot market, KKPS says the company is in talks with Tesla about PCBs for humanoid robots, which are currently in partial testing and qualification and are awaiting final design. It cites Bank of America estimates that the humanoid robot market could reach about 100 billion US dollars by 2033, with global shipments rising nearly fivefold from about 290,000 units in 2027 to 1.2 million units in 2030. KKPS lists key risks as delays in commercializing satellite projects, new capacity expansion coming later than expected, a weaker-than-expected margin recovery, and the risk of raw material shortages.

SpaceX's Starship Achieves First Successful Insertion into Earth Orbit
SpaceX's fully reusable rocket Starship, which the company is developing, succeeded for the first time in reaching Earth orbit on its 14th flight test on September 28, 2026. A vehicle combining the upper-stage spacecraft Ship 41 with the first-stage booster Booster 21 was launched, and although one of the six Raptor engines on the upper stage shut down earlier than planned during ascent, it achieved orbital insertion and released all 26 next-generation communications satellites, Starlink V3, into orbit. The original plan called for roughly six orbits of low Earth orbit at an altitude of about 275 kilometers over about 10 hours, followed by a controlled splashdown in the Pacific Ocean west of Chile, but the flight time was shortened to about three hours following the upper-stage engine malfunction. Previous flight tests of Starship and Super Heavy had deliberately remained on suborbital trajectories with safety as the priority, and the shift to true orbital flight and the demonstration of its capability as a means of transporting operational satellites mark a turning point. SpaceX has won a 2.89 billion dollar HLS development contract from NASA and aims for a crewed lunar landing on Artemis 4 in 2028 and the construction of a long-term activity base on the lunar surface.

Sirius XM Puts SXM-11 Satellite Into Service, Expanding Coverage
Sirius XM Holdings has put its SXM-11 satellite fully into service, expanding broadcast coverage across roughly eight million square miles and supporting service to about 210 million equipped vehicles. The milestone arrives as the stock has eased in the near term, with a 7.31% 30 day share price return and a 6.07% 90 day share price return, though the 29.84% year to date share price return and 24.37% 1 year total shareholder return still point to momentum built over the past year. The most followed fair value estimate for the company is $28.08, against a last close of $26.63, leaving a small implied discount and a 5% undervalued reading. The bull case rests on rapid growth in podcast advertising, up nearly 50% year over year, and improvements in audio ad tech such as new measurement and buying tools. The narrative could unwind if Sirius XM Holdings continues to report shrinking subscribers and if rising content and acquisition costs compress already thin audio margins.

Iridium Communications stockholders voted overwhelmingly to approve the company's previously announced merger with Rocket Lab Corporation, clearing a key milestone in the deal. At a special meeting held today, approximately 99.6% of the votes cast were in favor of the transaction, representing approximately 81.0% of Iridium's outstanding shares of common stock entitled to vote. Under the terms of the agreement, Iridium stockholders will receive $27.00 in cash and a number of shares of Rocket Lab common stock calculated pursuant to an exchange ratio, subject to a collar, for each share of Iridium common stock outstanding at closing, giving the transaction a notional value of $54.00 per Iridium share. Iridium CEO Matt Desch called the vote an important milestone toward bringing together two companies with complementary capabilities, while Rocket Lab Founder and CEO Sir Peter Beck said it moves the pair closer to creating a next generation space powerhouse. The transaction is expected to be completed by mid-2027, subject to remaining required regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions.

SpaceX AI Unit Signs $3.4 Billion Monthly Compute Deals After Burry Doubted $1 Trillion Valuation
SpaceX's AI computing division has signed a string of major customer contracts worth a combined $3.4 billion per month, or $40.8 billion annually, after Michael Burry argued the company's IPO filing justified nothing close to a $1 trillion valuation. Anthropic agreed to pay SpaceX $1.25 billion per month for computing power, while Alphabet's Google signed a deal worth $920 million monthly, with Reflection AI and a still-unidentified customer adding another $150 million and $1.11 billion per month respectively. The contracts follow Burry's criticism of the company, which went public at $1.8 trillion in the largest debut in history, as a mix of a small space business, a niche telecom business, a struggling social media platform and "CoreWeave-light." SpaceX spent $15.8 billion on AI infrastructure in the second quarter alone and the division remains unprofitable, while the leases carry unusually short 90-day termination provisions that give customers an easy exit. Burry's broader argument that AI compute will eventually be commoditized still stands, and SpaceX's space launch business and Starlink must also succeed to justify its current $2 trillion price tag.

Cathie Wood's ARK Buys $25.1 Million of Rocket Lab, Trims Alphabet
Cathie Wood's ARK Invest bought 359,612 shares of Rocket Lab across three exchange-traded funds for about $25.1 million, while selling 16,422 shares of Alphabet valued at roughly $5.8 million through two funds, in trades disclosed Tuesday. The Rocket Lab buying follows the company's recently completed $1.944 billion share offering to finance its planned acquisition of Iridium, which is targeted to close in mid-2027. Rocket Lab is also approaching the expected debut of its larger Neutron rocket, and the Iridium deal would add satellite communications operations and recurring revenue streams as the company expands beyond launch services. Alphabet shares fell more than 1% Tuesday, while Rocket Lab climbed nearly 3%. The trades do not explain ARK's reasoning and show a continued increase in its Rocket Lab exposure alongside a smaller reduction in Alphabet.
Sunwave Communications Unveils 992 Million Yuan Private Placement Plan, About 60% of Funds Earmarked for Satellite-Terrestrial Integrated Communications System
After market close on September 23, Sunwave Communications disclosed its 2026 plan to issue A-shares to specific investors, aiming to raise no more than 992 million yuan in total. Analysts Expect SpaceX AI Revenue to Reach $275 Billion by 2030
Wall Street analysts expect SpaceX's artificial intelligence business to generate $275 billion in annual revenue by 2030, up from an annual run rate of about $10.2 billion after the segment posted $2.6 billion in the quarter ended June 30. That AI figure is a sub-component of the company's overall revenue, which SpaceX aims to lift to a $100 billion annualized run rate by the end of this year; by 2027, analysts forecast AI revenue alone will top $67 billion. For now, the connectivity segment that includes Starlink remains the largest piece of the business at $4.3 billion last quarter, while the space business generated $962 million. SpaceX, which went public a few months ago and carries a valuation of around $2 trillion, remains unprofitable, posting a net loss of $541 million last quarter, an improvement from the $1 billion loss a year earlier. CEO Elon Musk has previously projected the company could generate as much as $1 trillion by 2030, a target that appears unlikely unless AI or the other units grow faster than analysts expect.

SpaceX Weighting Doubles in Nasdaq 100 Rebalance, Forcing Index Funds to Buy More
SpaceX saw its weighting in the Nasdaq 100 more than double during the index's September quarterly rebalance, forcing every fund tracking the index, starting with the Invesco QQQ, to hold a materially larger position in the company. The reweighting followed the expansion of SpaceX's public float as post-IPO lockups expired, with roughly 7.7 billion shares outstanding and a float near 3.7 billion. At $151.85 and roughly $1.17 trillion of market capitalization, SpaceX is among the largest companies ever admitted to the Nasdaq 100 in its first year of trading, yet it reported a $541 million net loss last quarter on $7.81 billion of revenue, with a $143 million operating loss. Adjusted EBITDA was $3.54 billion, up 191% year over year on 92% revenue growth, with backlog at $47.5 billion, and management pulled its internal $1 trillion revenue timeline forward from 2031 to 2030 as Starlink subscribers doubled to 12.0 million. The same lockup expirations that lifted the index weight also add new tradable supply, and another unlock in late October and early November threatens to test whether the passive bid holds, with options pricing about an 18% implied weekly move around the earnings-and-unlock combination.

Analysts Weigh Potential SpaceX and Tesla Merger Creating World's Largest Listed Company
Industry analysts are discussing a potential merger between Space Exploration Technologies and Tesla that could combine the two groups under one entity. Commentary from these experts points to rising confidence that a deal could be structured to pool Tesla's AI and manufacturing with SpaceX's launch and satellite operations, including Starlink. If completed, the proposed tie up is being framed as capable of creating the world's largest listed company by market value. Space Exploration Technologies runs a global satellite-based broadband network, so any tie up with an electric vehicle and AI powerhouse would potentially link a US$2.1 trillion telecom operator directly with automotive, energy and software demand for high bandwidth connectivity. The key proof point from here is execution on joint AI and connectivity projects that both sides are already talking about, including orbital data centers and direct Tesla demand for Starlink and compute capacity, together with any concrete merger terms that clarify how capital, debt and governance would work inside a single structure.

Cantor Reiterates Overweight on Rocket Lab With $122 Target
Cantor Fitzgerald reiterated an Overweight rating and a $122 price target on Rocket Lab, implying roughly 89% upside from current levels, sending shares higher Monday. Analyst Andres Sheppard called the stock a good entry point ahead of two potentially transformative catalysts: the first launch of Neutron and the expected closing of Rocket Lab's acquisition of Iridium. Neutron, which Rocket Lab still targets launching later this year, is designed to carry roughly 13,000 kilograms of payload versus about 300 kilograms for Electron, and management expects each Neutron launch to generate roughly $50 million to $55 million, with Sheppard seeing the rocket eventually emerging as an alternative to SpaceX's Falcon 9. Rocket Lab has raised $1.944 billion through an at-the-market share offering, removing a major financing hurdle for the Iridium deal, which is expected to close in mid-2027 subject to regulatory approval and which Sheppard expects to roughly double the combined company's annual revenue. The company completed its 96th Electron mission on September 19, marking its 17th launch of 2026, and has another 15 dedicated missions planned for Synspective through the end of the decade.

AST SpaceMobile is building a space-based cellular broadband network that connects directly to unmodified smartphones, with 13 spacecraft in orbit and a target of approximately 45 satellites by early 2027. 24/7 Wall St. set a price target of $89.40 on the stock, implying 52.77% upside from the current $58.52 quote, with a buy rating at moderate confidence. The company reported Q2 2026 revenue of $31.52 million, missing the $34.4 million estimate but growing 2,626.6% year over year, while GAAP EPS of -$0.77 included a $125.9 million loss on the BB7 launch incident. Management reaffirmed FY2026 revenue guidance of $150 to $200 million and pro forma liquidity above $3.7 billion after a July convertible offering, and it targets approaching $1 billion of revenue in the first full year of commercial service, expected in 2027, backed by a backlog of roughly $1.3 billion and 60-plus MNO partners reaching over 3 billion subscribers. Among peers, Rocket Lab posted Q2 2026 revenue of $234.07 million and carries a $38.64 billion market cap, while Globalstar delivered Q2 2026 revenue of $64.77 million and trades at a $10.73 billion market cap as it awaits a pending merger with Amazon.
SpaceX Targets Sept. 28 for Starship Flight 14 Orbital Test
SpaceX is targeting Sept. 28 for Starship Flight 14, six days later than its original Sept. 22 target, a mission designed to attempt a full orbit around Earth and deploy operational Starlink V3 satellites. The flight would mark a step beyond previous Starship tests, which did not attempt full orbital operations. Starlink remains the more established part of the business, providing recurring revenue that helps fund SpaceX's capital-intensive ventures, while the company's AI computing segment posted revenues of $2.56 billion in the second quarter of 2026, up 247.5% year over year, with compute revenues of $2.6 billion and adjusted EBITDA of $1.15 billion. Management expects compute capacity to exceed 2 gigawatts by year-end and 10 gigawatts by 2027 end, even as second-quarter 2026 capital expenditures reached approximately $18.4 billion, including about $15.8 billion for AI compute infrastructure, and the company reported a $541 million net loss. Raymond James Starts Rocket Lab at Outperform With $80 Target
Raymond James launched coverage of Rocket Lab Corporation on September 11 with an Outperform rating and an $80 price target, implying roughly 29% upside from current levels. Analyst Brian Gesuale framed Rocket Lab as an emerging, vertically integrated space platform spanning launch, spacecraft, components, payloads and optical communications, and projected a path to positive adjusted EBITDA and free cash flow by 2027-2028. The firm flagged two upside drivers beyond the core launch business: Neutron, Rocket Lab's medium-lift reusable rocket, which is now under testing with launch pad delivery scheduled for the fourth quarter and is expected to expand its addressable market in 2027, and its push into satellite operations and optical communications through its completed $155.3 million purchase of Mynaric in April 2026 and its pending roughly $8 billion acquisition of Iridium Communications, which would bring Iridium's operating satellite network, L-band spectrum and more than 2.55 million billable subscribers. Raymond James also cited substantial execution risk, including aggressive Street gross-margin assumptions, the complexity of transitioning Neutron from development to commercialization, and the integration risk of absorbing both Iridium and Mynaric, with the Iridium deal still seeking regulatory approval. On the launch side, Rocket Lab completed its 16th Electron mission of 2026 on September 11, launching an Earth-observation satellite into a 500-kilometer low-Earth orbit for a confidential customer from Launch Complex 1 in New Zealand, and added another Electron mission on September 19 to reach 96 total launches, closing in on its annual record of 21 set in 2025. Musk Again Hints at Tesla-SpaceX Merger, Sending Both Stocks Higher
Elon Musk declined to rule out a merger of Tesla and SpaceX when asked at the All-In Summit in Los Angeles on September 14 why the two companies remain separate, saying "who can imagine what action one might take when there's so much close collaboration in so many areas," and shares of Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) and Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:SPCX) rose overnight ahead of the September 15 session. It was at least the second such non-answer in two months, after Musk said on Tesla's second-quarter results call in July that the companies have "more and more overlap" and that any combination "has to be done with the appropriate process." Wall Street has engaged with the idea: Jefferies calculated Musk would retain approximately 55.3% voting control in a deal finalized without a merger premium, and JPMorgan called the acquisition "strategically coherent on paper." The overlap is concrete, including Terafab, a joint semiconductor venture between Tesla, SpaceX, xAI and Intel whose public filings contemplate up to approximately $119 billion of investment across four phases, plus Grok integration into Tesla vehicles and Starlink connectivity in the Cybercab. Skeptics note both stocks fell nearly 2% on September 14 before the overnight rally, and that Musk has yet to confirm any mechanism, timeline or formal process, with no sign either board has begun to act.

Boeing Completes 13-Satellite O3b mPOWER Constellation for SES
Boeing has completed its 13-satellite O3b mPOWER constellation for operator SES after launching the final three satellites, F11, F12 and F13, from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station to join the 10 already in orbit. The constellation is aimed at supporting high-speed global connectivity for customers with growing bandwidth needs, including governments, cruise lines, commercial airlines and mobile users. Ryan Reid, President of Boeing Satellite Systems International, said the constellation demonstrates the company's capacity to deliver through robust execution and customer focus, and noted that pairing the O3b mPOWER payload with Boeing's standardized 702X satellite platform gives a dual-use architecture that can be built and integrated quickly across different orbits. The satellites are yet to complete orbit raising and initialization before entering service in mid-2027, leaving risks of technical delays or anomalies, and any technical shortcomings in the O3b mPOWER architecture could prompt additional scrutiny of Boeing's related defense implementations, including hardened versions being developed for the U.S. Space Force's Evolved Strategic SATCOM systems and Wideband Global SATCOM. By the end of the second quarter, Boeing reported $715 billion in total backlog, including $597 billion for commercial airplanes, $85 billion for Defense, Space & Security and $33 billion for Global Services. Elon Musk said on SpaceX's August 4, 2026 earnings call that Starlink could deliver a majority of the world's internet traffic in less than 10 years, driven by a next-generation satellite that multiplies delivered bandwidth by roughly two orders of magnitude. In a post on X, Musk said connectivity per satellite will be about 10 terabits per second in both directions, with a path to more than 100 Tbps, and that each satellite is 250kW and will carry a SpaceX-designed Nvidia Vera Rubin NVL72 computer. SpaceX expects to launch about an order of magnitude more Starlink V3 satellites than V2, and Musk said that even if monetization per bit drops by a factor of 10, Starlink revenue would still rise 10x; an FCC filing covering up to 100,000 Gen3 satellites was accepted for filing in mid-September 2026 but has not been approved. The Q2 2026 results showed total revenue of $7.81 billion, up 92% year over year, with the connectivity segment contributing $4.3 billion, up 66%, more than 1.7 million net consumer subscribers added, ARPU of $66 per month, and enterprise and government revenue up 108% on deals with American Airlines, Southwest, Virgin Atlantic, Iberia and Aer Lingus plus over $6 billion in multi-year Space Force Starshield contracts. Management said a critical mass of about 1,000 V3 satellites is needed before service improvements become significant, expected by approximately the second quarter of next year, and Musk told analysts that a year from now SpaceX will be doing at least one flight a day and possibly more. SPCX shares closed at $152.71 on September 18, up 9.35% over the past month.
